Ethan Marcus, CFLS – President
Ethan J. Marcus graduated from California Western School of Law in December of 1990 on a merit scholarship. In 1991, after planting the seeds of a practice in San Diego County, he joined forces with his father, David E. Marcus, in Imperial County. Ethan took over management of his father’s firm in 1993, nine months before David E. Marcus passed away. Meanwhile, Ethan continued to oversee his own San Diego cases. Ethan went on to become the first Certified Family Law Specialist in Imperial County in 1996. By then, the Marcus Family Law Center was already one of the busiest Family Law firms in the State of California.
With over 20 years of experience, Ethan Marcus handles as many cases (and as many kinds of cases) as any Family Law practitioner in California. Yet Ethan never strays from his insistence on delivering his personal attention and commitment. Ethan speaks several languages, including fluency in English, Spanish, and Hebrew.
Ethan feels that his greatest value to his clients comes from his prior experience as a teacher. “None of us was born knowing this stuff. We learned it like anyone else. What we can learn, we can teach. I want every client to leave my office understanding his or her case better than I do. I might have studied the law, but as the saying goes, ‘The doctor is the expert, but only the patient knows where it hurts.’ This is the client’s case, not mine, and the client must be well-informed in order to be able to make sound decisions.”
Erin Tomlinson, CFLS – Managing Associate
Ms. Tomlinson joined the firm as an associate in 2007 after graduating from McGeorge School of Law in 2006 and being admitted to the bar the same year. She is now the firm’s Chief Legal Officer as well as a Certified Family Law Specialist, having passed the rigorous examination for the certification in 2011.
Erin approaches each case with tenacity and creativity, working with clients to find unique solutions that meet their unique needs. Her focus since joining the firm has been on the most difficult and challenging cases, including those involving interstate jurisdiction, child support, and Appellate work. She handles cases in all three of the counties in which the firm has offices: San Diego, Imperial and Riverside.

A graduate of Golden Gate University and veteran attorney, Moriel Cohen is an associate at Marcus Family Law Center, PLC. at the Scripps Ranch branch.

Brandon Connors – Associate Attorney
Brandon Connors was hand-picked by Ethan Marcus to become an associate attorney at the El Centro office, where a position was created for Mr. Connors in 2017. Brandon had been admitted to the California State Bar in 2015 after earning his Juris Doctorate from California Western School of Law and a Bachelors Degree in Economics from the University of California, San Diego. In his densely packed time as a licensed attorney prior to coming to Marcus Family Law Center, PLC, Mr. Connors distinguished himself, displaying a diverse set of skills including competence cultivated in areas of law such as consumer protection and debt-defense practice in Federal and State Court.
Brandon brings a creative analytical approach to each case, along with a goal-oriented work ethic, boundless energy, and tireless zeal in pursuing the objectives of his clients. Brandon handles a variety of family law matters within the firm including dissolution of marriage, parentage, custody and visitation, child support, and spousal support, and he has cultivated an expertise in the subtle issues of discovery, standing, and jurisdiction, as well as having accumulated a volume of experience on general case-strategy in and out of court.
Mr. Brandon Connors enjoys the courtroom, and with his knowledgeable and confident presentation, he has earned the trust of judges, who rely on his advice in reaching their rulings. He is engaging and persuasive, ideal traits when negotiating a settlement in his client’s best interests. Most importantly, he likes his clients, and his clients like him, and he really takes pride in what he can accomplish for the people he represents.
